Marie Jacquot

Considered one of the leading young conducting talents of today, Marie Jacquot was appointed First Kapellmeister and Deputy Chief Conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra at the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg in September of 2016. In this capacity she has conducted new productions of Nabucco, Il Barbiere di Seviglia, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Csardas Princess, the revival of Idomeneo, as well as performances of Les Huguenots, The Abduction from the Seraglio, The Merry Wives of Windsor and Bluebeard’s Castle.

This season Marie debuts with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester (DSO) Berlin, the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Gürzenich Orchester Cologne, Staatstheater Stuttgart (Medea), and Deutsche Oper am Rhein (Rigoletto). She will additionally conduct the Bremer Philharmoniker, and productions of Il Barbieri, La Belle Hélène, and King Arthur at Mainfranken Theater Würzburg. Previous highlights include MDR Symphonieorchester Leipzig, Muenchner Symphoniker, Grosses Orchester Graz, Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz, Staatsorchester Darmstadt, and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra at the Konzerthaus in Vienna. In the summer of 2018 she returned to the Bavarian State Opera to conduct the world premiere of Nikolaus Brass’s Die Vorübergehenden during the Munich Opera Festival.

Marie first attracted worldwide attention for her work assisting Kirill Petrenko with the Bavarian State Opera for the world premiere of commissioned work “South Pole” by Miroslav Srnka. Subsequently, the Bavarian State Opera asked Marie to conduct a new production of “Tonguecat” by composers Saskia Bladt and Thorsten Herrmann as well as a special concert during the State Opera’s Carnegie Hall residency in March of 2018.

Marie originally majored in Trombone at the Music Conservatory of Paris. She then attended the University of Music and Performing Arts (Vienna) where she studied conducting with Maestro Uroš Lajovic. She has participated in numerous master classes and conducting workshops with many established conductors and professors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Fabio Luisi, Zubin Mehta and Nicolas Pasquet in Weimar. She has received the Dirigentenforum scholarship since 2016.
