Across the Stars, the long-awaited collaboration between Anne-Sophie Mutter and John Williams will be released by Deutsche Grammophon this Friday, August 30.

The album includes new arrangements of Williams’ famous movie themes, such as “Princess Leia’s Theme” from Star Wars, “Hedwig’s Theme” from Harry Potter, and “The Flying Theme” from E.T.

In an interview with NPR, Williams and Mutter discuss the art of film composition, and why Williams decided to re-write some of the most beloved melodies of the 20th century for virtuosic violin and orchestra.
